Epilogue
He got to wake every morning with her by his side. JC still marveled at the fact as he watched Nix prepare for a night. Their first anniversary.
It hadn’t been exactly an easy year. First he had to explain the presence of the mystery woman who appeared out of nowhere. Catherine ‘Cat’ Nixon had a vaguely continental accent and an old-world manner. She was fiery, passionate, and completely devoted to JC. Nix, as JC called her, was also prone to jealously. Any female who tried to come between her and her man was set down immediately. If JC commented on the attractiveness of another woman, he’d come to know there would be hell to pay when they got home. But every tempestuous fight usually ended up with hot, passionate lovemaking, so it was more than worth it. And Nix tended to be spoiled. Not that she expected lavish, expensive gifts, rather she wanted her husband’s attention –and she knew exactly how to get it!
Nix came to JC and slipped her slender arms around his waist. She nuzzled his throat making a content purring sound. She was so happy with her life!
“Ready to go, beautiful?” he asked.
“I would rather stay home with you,” she complained with a little pout.
With hard kiss and a playful swat on her butt, he said, “Behave and we’ll come home early.”
Her emerald gaze met his, “I always behave, beloved.”
“Yeah...riiight...”
“I can’t help it when men approach me.” She tended to draw men like bees to honey. “And I always tell them I love no one but you. “ That much was true, she didn’t encourage them. There was simply something seductive in her entire aura.
“And keep your sharp little claws sheathed tonight.”
Frowning, she said, “I hate it when women touch you.”
“I know, baby, but you can’t scratch their eyes out. Just be cool and know that you’re the only one I want.”
Nix was enough sexy little cat for him!
