The End: A New Home
Kara was bouncing in the backseat at JC’s pronouncement of a surprise. Joshua, Junior slept on despite his car seat being rocked by his older sister’s excitement.
When the car turned up the new lane JC had built for his studio, Cameron guessed he wanted to show off the finished product. What she knew about music production could fit in a thimble, but she would be enthusiastic for him. What loomed before them was a large wood and glass structure built into the hillside.
“Umm…that’s a big studio.”
“It’s not just a studio, Cam. It’s our new home.”
“Our what?” she asked, incredulous. “I thought we were moving to LA.”
“I can’t see doing that to you and Kara.” JC got out and released Kara from her seatbelt so she could hop down. He then unfastened his son from his car seat, holding him close. At last, he opened Cam’s door. “Want to take a look?”
Cameron got out. “Where’s the studio?”
“Basement. Third floor has four bedrooms, two bathrooms. Second floor – master suite with sitting area and nursery. First Floor – dining room, living room, big kitchen, half-bath, and office. Basement – bathroom, family room and studio.” He waited for a reaction. When none was forth coming, he asked, “Well, ladies?”
“Cool!” was Kara’s response.
“Joshua, it’s beautiful,” Cameron murmured, dumb-founded.
“No furniture or décor. I figured that was more your mien. It’s a shell. You get to make it home – for all of us.”
Cameron slipped beneath his arm. “Wherever we’re together is home, Josh.”
Life had come full circle for JC and brought Cam back into his life. Joshua Scott Chasez, Senior was one of the happiest men on earth.
